Havana is the capital of the Republic of Cuba and also an independent province. The city has 2.10 million inhabitants and an area of 728.26 km ². That is why it is the largest metropolis in the Caribbean both by population and by area. The main attractions are the Capitol, the Malecon de Habana, the Plaza Viaja, the Paseo del Prado and the Habana Vieja. Outside of Havana there is the beach Santa Maria del Mar. This beach is one of the most beautiful beaches near Havana and is really recommendable.

Havana is a really beautiful city that immediately captivates you. The historic buildings, the famous vintage cars and the special flair let you immerse yourself in another time. On foot you can ideally discover the many small cafes and the beautiful parks, which are very popular and are therefore often visited. Here and there are musicians who stroll through the cafes and play the typical Cuban music, to the delight of many tourists. In the summer it is especially warm at lunchtime. That's why there are not so many people on the street during the day. In the evening, when it gets cooler the people prefer to go out again. Really popular is the Malecon. There, the locals meet and like to hear music. Of course, it is also possible to make a round trip through the city with the oldtimer-car taxis.

The typical Cuban cuisine is a mixture of Spanish, African and Caribbean influences. Typical dishes include "puerco asado cubano", Cuban suckling pig, Ropa Vieja, Congris, Pontaje (bean stew), Chatinos or Tostones, cocktail de camarones, enchilado de camarones (an excellent dish with shrimp), the Cuban flan , Pudin (Cuban pudding made from bread) and much more.
